Fundraising

From time to time the Scout Group runs a number of fundraising activities including Bunnings Sausage Sizzles, Trivia Nights Wine Drives and badge sales for Scouts in Action Month which is held annually.

Parents of the Gumdale Scout Group are expected to participate in these activities and can volunteer their time when called upon by the Group Executive Committee.

Funds raised through these activities go towards the following:

  • Subsidising youth and leader fees for State, National and International Scouting events like Cuborees, Jamborees and Ventures both here in Australia and overseas.

  • Supporting financially disadvantaged members

To be involved or if you have a fundrasing idea you can email the Gumdale Group Leader at gl@gumdale.scoutsqld.com.au

Scouts in Action Month

Each Year an event called 'Scouts in Action Month' is held.  This event attracts between 15 to 20,000 Scouts from around Australia and overseas participating in a range of special programs written for them.  Scouts in Action Month is held in August each year and previous themes include, first aid, disability awareness, international Scouting, community awareness, anti-bullying, environment and in 2016 saw the 100 Years of Cub Scouts being celebrated.

Each year a badge is designed and sold to participating Groups.  This activity raises significant funds for Gumdale Scout Group and this allows the Group to make a contribution towards fees for Leaders and Youth Members attending State, National and International Scouting Events.

Look out for this event when the Group needs assistance with counting, packaging and despatching badges.  When you sell 15,000 to 20,000 badges each year that is a lot of mail and it take a fair effort to make it happen.
