Child Safe Scouting

Scouts Queensland has a duty of care to all Youth Members to provide a safe environment and protection from harm and as a result Scouts Queensland has an legal responsibility to protect its Youth Members from any form of abuse.

All Adults in Scouting must be able to hold a Child Safety Card (Blue Card) and undergo the Scouts Child safety training before commencement.

Adult Uniformed Leaders

Parents and other members of the community who volunteer their time will spend most of their time working with children as Section Leaders and therefore must undergo several steps in order to become a member of Scouting and be entitled to wear the Scout Uniform.


Adult Uniformed Leaders will be required to complete the following in order to undertake a uniformed role in Scouting:

1. Apply for a Working with Children Card (Blue Card) 

       - this can be a volunteer card or you may already have a paid or exempt card which will need to be linked to Gumdale Scouts

2. Complete an Application for Adult Membership (Form A1)
3. Complete mandatory eLearning and face to face training
 

All applicants for Adult Leaders will be required to provide 2 referees so we can conduct reference checks.
 

Adult Non-Uniformed Leaders

Adult Helpers are non-uniformed adults who regularly assist in the delivery of our Youth Program mostly in our younger sections (Joeys and Cubs). 

Adult Non-Uniformed Leaders must complete the following in order to take on the Adult Member - Parent Helper role in Scouting.

1. Apply for a Working with Children Card (Blue Card) 

       - this can be a volunteer card or you may already have a paid or exempt card which will need to be linked to Gumdale Scouts

2. Complete an Application for Adult Membership (Form A1)

The above includes a reference check of two referees provided by the applicant

There are 2 online modules that need to be completed as soon as your application to become an Adult Member as been approved.
